Your Bank / Financial institution may set-up SecureCode in two ways: • Static Password One Time Password (OTP). In this set-up, the cardholder sets up a unique password for their Mastercard credit or debit card.
At the time of an online transaction and as per the merchant requirement, the system asks for a unique password to ensure the transaction is genuine. At this time, the cardholder inputs this unique password that was set up earlier. Since the unique password is not known to anyone else, the transaction is safer and more secure. In case the password provided is incorrect, the transaction will be declined. The cardholder can reset / change the unique password by contacting their Bank / Financial Institution. The entire password management is under a robust secure environment managed by the Bank / Financial institution. The cardholder must remember to never share or provide the password to anyone.
They must carefully read and comply with the guidelines provided by their Bank / Financial Institution. Your Bank / Financial Institution may offer SecureCode via a One Time Password. For every online transaction that requires SecureCode, your Bank / Financial Institution will generate and send you a unique password.
This will be sent to you via SMS or an email or both to your registered mobile number or email address maintained in your Bank / Financial Institution’s records. You will get a unique OTP every time you use your credit or debit Mastercard card at a participating merchant.
Your Bank / Financial Institution may require you to sign-up / register for the OTP SecureCode. This will be a one time action but will make your online transactions safer, more secure. The following illustrate the online transaction steps using OTP.
